Others apply. We engineer.

Natural stone took thousands of years to form underground — no sun, no water, no foot traffic. The moment it's placed in a South Florida environment, it enters a world it was never designed for. We act as the mediator. Not to fight nature. To work with it.

Our Second Engineered Outcome

SignaSeal — Pavers Brought Back To Life

The same family that engineered SignaTrac engineered SignaSeal: a proprietary translucent enhancement that brings faded brick pavers back close to their original color — the vibrance, the depth, the pop they had the day they were laid. Never a coating over the paver. We never change colors; we bring them back.

Priced like standard paver sealing — the outcome is anything but standard. Installed by Signature Traction, with every surface prepared by our partner Surface Pros. Residential brick pavers, concrete and decorative concrete.

Why Homeowners Call Us

Why We Don't Use "Coatings"

Most traditional coatings fail because they ignore the physics of natural stone. Travertine and concrete are porous—they breathe, expand, and wick moisture from the earth below. When a thick, solid-film "3-part coating" or epoxy is applied over a pool deck, it acts as a suffocating plastic lid. Under the intense Florida sun, that trapped ground moisture creates massive hydrostatic pressure, inevitably causing the coating to cloud, blister, and peel. It is a predictable physics failure.

Instead of fighting physics, we engineered a solution that works with it. The proprietary SIGNATRAC™ system utilizes a engineered surface system. This micro-bonded layer secures our multi-grade aggregate to the substrate while allowing the stone to breathe naturally. Engineered to minimize moisture entrapment and resist peeling. Just a permanent, dynamically calibrated grip engineered specifically for the elements.

Not a product. An engineered outcome.

Signature Traction is not a product you can buy off a shelf, order online, or have shipped to your door. What we deliver is an on-site engineered treatment — formulated, calibrated, and applied specifically to your surface, on your property, by us.

Every substrate is evaluated in person. Every treatment is adjusted to the stone, the finish, the environment, and the intended use. The result is not something that comes in a bottle — it is built on-site, by hand, with nearly three decades of material science and field experience behind every decision.

Material Analysis

Every stone type behaves differently. Travertine, limestone, and marble each have distinct pore structures that require different treatment approaches. We identify exactly what the surface needs.

Hybrid Cross-Link Catalyst System

Every surface gets a treatment engineered specifically for it. Our engineered surface system — the engineered surface system — is formulated for each substrate. Stone type, porosity, surface condition, and environment all determine the chemistry. On highly porous substrates like travertine or limestone, the system is viscosity-adjusted to penetrate deep into the pore structure, bonding from within rather than sitting on top. Where durability is the priority, a second engineered phase is applied — a higher-solids cross-linking coat with broadcast aggregate that cures into the surface itself. The result is a wear-resistant, traction-engineered finish that is part of the stone — not a coating over it.

The Experts Behind Signature Traction

Real people. Real experience. On every job.

Mark Gorman — Founder, Signature Traction
Mark Gorman
Founder & Technical Lead
Signature Traction · Palm Beach County

Mark Gorman's expertise in surface adhesion didn't start on a pool deck — it started on the water. Mark's early career was shaped by a surfing background and an extensive apprenticeship building mega-yachts, where he mastered resins, bonding agents, and marine-grade durability. He applied this knowledge to engineering high-performance traction for surfboards and paddleboards — where failure is not an option.

Tap to expand

Operating in South Florida since the early 2000s, Mark recognized a critical gap in the luxury market: contractors were ruining high-end natural stone with cheap, slippery coatings, creating massive liability for homeowners and resorts. Signature Traction was built to solve this exact problem.

Tap to expand

Today, Mark and his crew are the quiet force behind some of the most challenging surface engineering projects in the country — frequently subcontracted by national-brand surface companies to handle their most technical, high-stakes non-slip jobs.

Field Story — Caribbean Resort

A luxury resort had just completed a multi-million dollar pool renovation with premium travertine — visually stunning, dangerously slick. Guests were falling, lawsuits were mounting, rubber mats covered the deck. It was more cost-effective to fly Mark out internationally than to risk another day of liability. He engineered a custom traction profile and treated the entire pool deck in two days. As he packed up, guests approached him with a single message: "Thank you for saving our vacation."

Ashton Hulscher — Surface Preparation Specialist
Ashton Hulscher
Surface Preparation Specialist
20+ Years, South Florida

Ashton is the foundation of every Signature Traction job. His specialty is surface preparation — understanding and executing the correct prep for every surface type, material, and condition. Twenty years of South Florida work has taught him exactly how different stones, concrete, and natural surfaces respond to prep, treatment, and the elements. Ashton doesn't do surface ready. He does surface engineered. The prep is where outcomes are decided.

Ashton learned the hard truth of this trade early: almost every surface failure traces back to one thing — prep that got rushed. Coatings peel. Sealers lift. Stone discolors. Finishes that should last years wear out in months. While others race to get product down, Ashton slows down at the one stage that actually decides the result. Get the prep wrong, and nothing applied on top of it can save the job.

Tap to expand

What sets Ashton apart is a refusal to call a surface 'good enough.' He decides when a surface is truly ready — completely clean, structurally sound, properly profiled, and free of anything that could compromise adhesion or performance. He'd rather spend the extra hour getting it right than make a return trip to fix what a shortcut caused. On a Signature Traction job, nothing gets treated until Ashton signs off.

The Prep Standard

Ashton's rule is the same one Signature Traction is built on: the name on the work has to mean something. Every surface he preps is one he'll stand behind personally — because if the prep isn't right, the outcome can't be either.

"If I wouldn't put my name on it, it's not ready yet." — Ashton

Why We Don't Use Coatings

Most coatings fail because they ignore the physics. Natural stone breathes, expands, and wicks moisture from below. When a thick topical coating is applied in direct Florida sun — the bond releases. A predictable physics failure. Think of it like a tire: the grip is engineered in — the compound, the tread, the channels that move water out from under it — and it holds up when the conditions it was engineered for are respected. Our system works the same way. Maintain the surface correctly and it performs. We tell you exactly what your surface needs — and we stand behind it when those conditions are met.

Our system may slightly deepen color on porous materials — similar to how natural stone looks when lightly damp. Dense materials like polished marble typically show no visible change.

Our Warranty Is Earned, Not Given

Traction is our name, so judge us the way you would judge a tire. A tire grips because it is engineered to: the rubber compound, the tread pattern, the channels that push water out from under it. Our system works on the same principle — a finish engineered into your stone, calibrated to the material, built to move water out from underfoot instead of letting it sit between you and the surface.

And like a tire, the warranty has conditions. No tire maker stands behind tread that is never rotated or driven at the wrong pressure — the engineering is half the outcome, and the care is the other half. We operate the same way. We engineer the treatment to your specific substrate. We stand by the result. And longevity depends on how the surface is maintained, what it is exposed to, and how it is used.

The same tire lives a very different life under a careful highway commuter than it does being run hard every day — same engineering, different conditions. Our work is no different. We have seen it last more than five years on well-maintained surfaces. We have seen heavy chemical cleaning and extreme conditions take it down to a year. That range is honest. We do not guess. We do not disappear after the job. We tell you exactly what to expect — and we stand by it.
